The newest variant of "preppy," led mostly by Gen Alpha over the last year, refers to bright clothing, lots of pink, and specific accessories like ribbons, bowties, and Stanley water bottles. The TL:DR history of how preppy has changed over the decadesFor many, "preppy" is closely associated with clothing worn by wealthy people and preparatory school students. Now, the word refers to all things pink and colorful — with yet, another short list of in-vogue brands in association. In a video by the "preppy" Texas boutique @dearhannahprep, three girls described the look as "very girly" and "comfy." And according to Brent, many people's dining room rugs aren't right for their spaces. AdvertisementWhen you're decorating your dining room, you likely rely on a few key pieces to make it feel inviting. But getting the right rug for your dining room can be difficult, as designer and YouTuber Kiva Brent recently shared in an Instagram Reel. Advertisement"Stick to washable rugs, layer cowhides that are fairly easy to clean, or forgo the rug in the dining room," Brent said in the same Reel. Whatever you decide, make sure you're getting a rug that actually suits your dining room — not one that doesn't fit your space.

CNN —The pandemic’s enforced period of no travel led an American couple to rethink their life and retire to sunny southern Italy. “We decided to sell our home, our car and all superfluous possessions and make Italy our retirement home for good. CNN —The Taurid meteor shower is not quite finished, with one of its two streams set to peak this weekend. When the Northern Taurids, an annual minor shower, is at its most active, sky-gazers could catch sight of a bright meteor or two streaking across the night sky. The Northern Taurids are expected to peak at around 7:21 p.m. Stemming from a parent comet called Encke, both Taurid showers typically produce low rates of five meteors per hour. When these celestial objects, known as the Encke Complex, take their orbital journey around the sun, they leave a debris trail that appears as the Taurid meteor showers when Earth’s orbit intersects with their path.

They're “the most potent greenhouse gases known to modern science,” as one research paper put it and they're growing fast. With the Environmental Protection Agency required to phase out one family of the chemicals 85% by 2036, the push is on to develop and spread cleaner alternatives. With more than 200 million gasoline cars in the U.S. alone, Groll said that amounts to approximately 100 million pounds of refrigerant leaking out into the atmosphere each year. Birkenstock, the longtime German shoe brand known for its comfy and durable styles, is expected to price its IPO at $46 per share on Tuesday, giving it a tentative valuation of about $8.64 billion, according to a person familiar with the matter. Combined with the 21.51 million in shares its selling stockholders were looking to offload, the offering could bring in around $1.48 billion. Birkenstock's offering comes as the IPO market remains choppy after a number of recent filers began trading in muted debuts. But after an initial 40% pop, it closed at $33.70 on its first day on the Nasdaq and is now trading below its opening share price. It posted a net income of about 187 million euros ($198 million) in fiscal 2022.
